The Pontiacs of Tennessee was founded in 1996 from an advertisement that was placed in The Tennessean, Nashville's largest newspaper.

"PONTIAC - If you like / own a Pontiac, whether it be a 1996 pro-street Trans Am or anything in between, and you are interested in forming a Tennessee chapter of POCI (Pontiac Oakland Club International), let's get together on 11/17. Call Jim @ ***-8816 for details. Car ownership NOT required."

From that ad, the chapter formed with 15 members and received its POCI Charter in March of 1997. Since that time, Pontiacs of Tennessee has grown to over 80 members and has become one of the most active Pontiac Clubs in the country. While the majority of our members reside in Tennessee, we have members from Kentucky, Alabama, Arkansas, Virginia, North Carolina and Ohio.

Pontiacs of Tennessee has two of its founding members who have been elected to National Director's positions; Doug Bendle was a National Director for POCI through 1998, and Jim Heidenway was elected in February 1999 to serve as a National Director.

In 1998, Beaman Pontiac-GMC began sponsoring the club. Our monthly meetings are held in the training room at Beaman Pontiac, usually on the third Thursday of the month. Due to other activities, we only meet for a business meeting six times per year. The other months are busy with dinners, picnics, tech sessions, tours or other club activities.

Our schedule is listed on our website. Please feel free to come see us at any time. If you would like a complimentary newsletter, please e-mail us at president@pontiactn.org. Newsletters are also available via e-mail to our members.
